Freshly ground coffee beans are brewed, and the coffee is then separated from the grounds with a filter, which can be paper, metal, cloth, or plastic. Hot water is used in the brewing, but the coffee drips onto ice. It is then typically served in a glass with ice. The success of the brewing depends on the quality of the beans, the grind size, the recipe, the water temperature (which should be 92-95 degrees), the brewing time, the brewing process, and the type of ice.
